ActiveCampaign is an email marketing platform that helps businesses turn messy customer communication into a smart, organized system. It is known for powerful automation that reacts in real time, sending emails, texts, follow-ups, and sales tasks based on what people do, like clicking links, making purchases, filling out forms, or visiting a website. It also includes tools for customer tracking, reports, landing pages, and connections with many other apps.


For brands that want to lead with confidence and grow with control, ActiveCampaign helps turn chaos into order. And after using GetResponse, Sprout Social, iContact, MailChimp, and Constant Contact for email marketing in the past, I ended up loyal to ActiveCampaign. A marketing professor referred it to me, and I've been hooked ever since.


Automating with ActiveCampaign for Businesses


I find ActiveCampaign easy to use for email automation. You can build your own email drip campaigns, use free pre-made automations inside your account, and even share the workflows you create with others.


For example, I use a short welcome sequence for new subscribers. Over six days, new readers learn who I am, what I do, and how I can help. After that, they move into my bi-weekly educational newsletter.


The email builder is simple to navigate and stores your templates, which makes future campaigns faster to create.


ActiveCampaign also works as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, so you can manage contacts, track activity, and organize customer relationships in one place.

It is widely regarded as one of the strongest email marketing automation tools, especially for businesses seeking more advanced features.


Another feature I like is the ability to resend an email to people who did not open it the first time. Pro tip: If you resend the email, use a new subject line.


Pricing, Plans, and What You Get

There are 4 pricing tiers, and I selected the yearly plan, which is $15/month billed annually. For this investment, you get advanced functions:

One Con: The Trial Period


From a customer perspective, despite how much I like ActiveCampaign and recommend it, I did not love the pressure-based approach used after the 14-day free trial. If someone does not purchase, their information can be removed from the platform, which erases the work a serious lead has already put into setting things up. I believe a better approach would be to limit access while keeping their progress intact, still encouraging them to upgrade.
